Things look good for the home teams in most of the UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16 second legs but the likes of Arsenal LFC and Brøndby IF have work to do.

Only one of last week's opening games finished level, meaning Rayo Vallecano de Madrid travel to 2007 winners Arsenal on Wednesday with the tie all square at 1-1. However, at this stage in 2010/11 Vallecano were 2-0 up after the home first leg against Arsenal and still ended up being eliminated 4-3 on aggregate.

On the same day former semi-finalists Brøndby – who have lost in the round of 16 for the last two seasons – are one of two away sides defending a lead, 2-1, as they go to ASD Torres Calcio, eliminated in extra time by FCF Juvisy Essonne a year ago. Wednesday's other matches seem more clear-cut with Paris Saint-Germain FC needing to overturn a 3-0 deficit against 1. FFC Frankfurt, holders Olympique Lyonnais 6-0 ahead of AC Sparta Praha, and FC Rossiyanka leading Russian rivals FC Energiya Voronezh 4-0.

On Thursday, Sweden will hope for a double celebration with champions FC Malmö having a 3-1 advantage against Austrian visitors SV Neulengbach and Göteborg FC 1-0 up as Fortuna Hjørring come to town. In the remaining tie Glasgow City LFC will play for pride having lost their first leg 10-0 at two-time champions 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam.

Once the quarter-finalists are known, the draw for the remainder of the competition takes place in Nyon on 17 November. The quarter-finals are on 14/15 and 21/22 March, the semi-finals on 14/15 and 21/22 April, and the final, at a Munich venue to be confirmed, on 17 May.
