UEFA Women's Champions League holders Olympique Lyonnais confirmed themselves as the team to avoid in the quarter-final draw on 27 November with a 1-0 victory at ambitious Paris Saint-Germain FC to continue a fine run, while VfL Wolfsburg are also on awesome form.

Lyon went to PSG four points clear of their hosts off the back of 6-2 win against fellow contenders Montpellier Hérault SC. It was not quite so easy for OL against a PSG side containing Kosovare Asllani, Linda Bresonik and Annike Krahn but they inflicted the capital club's first loss of the season when Amandine Henry converted a 72nd-minute penalty. Lyon have scored 53 goals on their way to nine wins out of nine and have a five-point advantage at the summit, while fellow European quarter-finalists FCF Juvisy Essonne lie fourth after three straight wins, three adrift of Montpellier in second.

Wolfsburg, meanwhile went top of the Frauen Bundesliga last Wednesday by beating FSV Gütersloh 2009 10-0 with a Conny Pohlers hat-trick, moving ahead of former European contenders 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on goal difference having played a match fewer. They were then in the goals again on Sunday as they triumphed 8-1 at FCR 2001 Duisburg to reach the German Women's Cup quarter-finals.

Similarly prolific are Italy's contenders ASD Torres CF who made it seven league wins out of seven this term, Elisabetta Tona striking three times in a 6-0 triumph at ACF Torino; UPC Tavagnacco are two points ahead but have played two games more. In Russia, FC Rossiyanka are now top, beating WFC Kubanochka 5-0 and Ryazan-VDV 2-0 to move a point ahead of FK Zorkiy Krasnogorsk, whose European hopes were ended by Lyon.

The other teams involved in the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final draw have already completed their seasons. Arsenal LFC held on to the English title, while WFC Malmö were pipped to the Swedish title by Tyresö FF, though, like the Gunners have booked a 2013/14 European campaign, unlike Göteborg FC who came fourth.
