All-time leading UEFA European women's club competition goalscorer Conny Pohlers has extended her VfL Wolfsburg contract by 12 months until summer 2014.

Pohlers, who turned 34 on Friday, joined Wolfsburg in summer 2011 from 1. FFC Frankfurt and in her first campaign helped them earn a European debut in second place with 19 league goals. This season she has scored nine in eight games as her club sit top of the table.

Having won European titles with Potsdam and 1. FFC Frankfurt, the former Germany striker has so far scored in every one of Wolfsburg's games on their UEFA Women's Champions League debut. Her tally of six has helped them to next Tuesday's quarter-final draw and lifted her personal total to 40, the first player to reach that mark.

"VfL Wolfsburg and Conny Pohlers – this simply fits," said coach Ralf Kellerman. "I am very happy that we could reach agreement at such an early stage and that Conny has decided to pledged herself to VfL. She is guaranteed to score and I am glad to be able to work together with her on a long-term basis."

Pohlers added: "I am super happy about the early extension and am glad about the trust in me. I am sure we can achieve great things here. I feel very good here at Wolfsburg, they work professionally and you can fully focus on football."
