UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finalists FC Barcelona have added to their squad with the recruitment of versatile Spain forward Jenni Hermoso.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June after leaving Sweden's Tyresö FF, for whom she has already played in Europe this season. Having started her career at Club Atlético de Madrid, she joined Rayo Vallecano de Madrid in 2010 and scored the goal that clinched the title in her first season before moving to Tyresö last year.

Given her senior Spain debut in 2011, she was in the team that reached the UEFA Women's EURO 2013 quarter-finals, scoring twice. "I'm an offensive player and I like making assists," Hermoso said. "Barça's style fits very well with my game and I'm sure I can bring positive things to the team."

Barcelona are currently eight points clear in their search for a third straight Spanish title and face holders VfL Wolfsburg in their first European quarter-final in March. Tyresö, who are up against SV Neulengbach, have already seen goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, Caroline Graham Hansen, Sara Thunebro and Kirsten van de Ven leave this winter as well as Johanna Frisk retire due to injury; however, they have signed Finland No1 Tinja-Riikka Korpela, welcomed back Madeleine Edlund from maternity leave and secured a number of other players, including top scorer Christen Press, for the remainder of their European debut.
