UEFA Women's Champions League holders VfL Wolfsburg have signed versatile attacker Isabel Kerschowski from Bayer 04 Leverkusen on a two-year contract.

Kerschowski, 26, came through the ranks at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam alongside twin sister Monique and won the 2010 UEFA Women's Champions League as well as five German titles. Two years later she left for Leverkusen while Monique retired due to injuries; Isabel has two German caps and triumphed at the 2006 and 2007 UEFA European Under-19 Championships.

"I have already experienced a lot in football and won a few titles, but I am making the next step with this transfer and will compete at a higher level," Kerschowski said. "To play in this team is a huge challenge."

Wolfsburg coach Ralf Kellermann, whose side successfully defended their European and German crowns in 2013/14 and have previously signed defender Babett Peter and Norway forward Caroline Graham Hansen, added: "Isabel can play on both wings, and also in the centre. Her pace and experience will surely be of help to us."
