New Olympique Lyonnais coach Gérard Prêcheur has made Norway forward Ada Hegerberg his first big-name signing.
The 19-year-old joins from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, who beat Lyon in the UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16 last season to end their run of four consecutive finals. Her arrival follows that of goalkeeper Meline Gérard from AS Saint-Étienne.
Hegerberg, who will undergo a medical next week, started her career at Kolbotn IL and, in 2011, aged 16, was Norwegian league top scorer. She moved on to Stabæk FK in 2012, again top scoring with 25 goals in 18 league games, before joining Potsdam as well as aiding Norway to the UEFA Women's EURO 2013 final.
"I feel that I'm very welcome and look forward to giving 100% for the club," Hegerberg tweeted after her signing was confirmed. Lyon, who clinched their eighth straight French title last season, begin the UEFA Women's Champions League in the round of 32 hoping to match 1. FFC Frankfurt's record tally of three wins.
