Chelsea, Lyon, Wolfsburg, City and Barcelona on top

Lyon, Wolfsburg, Barcelona and Manchester City all secured comfortable round of 16 first-leg away wins while Chelsea beat Rosengård and Montpellier produced a fine comeback at Brescia.

Manchester City and Slavia Praha joined Wolfsburg, Barcelona, Chelsea, Montpellier and holders Lyon in securing first-leg advantages as the UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16 first legs concluded, with the returns next week.

Wednesday's first legs

Chelsea 3-0 Rosengård

  • Chelsea dominated the first half but it took until the 33rd minute for them to find a way past visiting goalkeeper Zecira Musovic with a neat Fran Kirby shot. The Swedish runners-up rallied in the second half but on 66 minutes Ramona Bachmann marked her 50th European appearance with a goal against her old club and Gilly Flaherty added a third.

Fiorentina 0-4 Wolfsburg

  • It was 0-0 at half-time but by the hour mark the two-time champions had put three past the European debutants, Sara Bjork Gunnarsdóttir scoring twice either side of a Pernille Harder striker. An own goal added to Wolfsburg's advantage.

BIIK-Kazygurt 0-7 Lyon

  • Ada Hegerberg scored four for the holders to take her competition-leading tally to nine, or 21 for Lyon in 2017/18 as a whole. Camilly Abily also scored as she became the first player to win 60 games in this competition; in the second leg she could equal Emma Byrne's appearance record of 77.

Brescia 2-3 Montpellier

  • Cristiana Girelli gave Brescia first-half leads twice but they were cancelled out by Stina Blackstenius and Janice Cayman before Linda Sembrant ensured both French teams will have advantages to defend at home next Wednesday.

Gintra Universitetas 0-6 Barcelona

  • Barcelona look on course for a fourth quarter-final in five years after a comfortable win in Lithuania. Mariona Caldentey scored twice while substitutes Toni Duggan, Olga García and Nataša Andonova all also got goals.

Sparta Praha 1-1 Linköping

  • Sparta led early in the second half through Kylie Strom's free-kick but the Swedish champions levelled within seven minutes on the counter thanks to Lina Hurtig.

Thursday's first legs

LSK Kvinner 0-5 Manchester City

  • City secured a record European win, Demi Stokes' drive and a well-struck Isobel Christiansen penalty laying the foundations. Substitute Claire Emslie curled in a fine third, before two Jane Ross headers against the 2017 Norwegian champions.

Stjarnan 1-2 Slavia Praha

  • Slavia have their noses in front, Kateřina Svitková making the difference from the penalty spot in the 71st minute, just two minutes after Lára Pedersen had cancelled out Petra Divišová's first-half opener.
