Having watched her FCR 2001 Duisburg side secure the UEFA Women's Cup with a 7-1 aggregate victory against Zvezda-2005, coach Martina Voss paid tribute to their opponents for their spirit following a 6-0 first-leg loss. Voss added that competition record 28,112 crowd in the MSV Arena showed how seriously the whole city of Duisburg take FCR, and Zvezda's Stanislav Kharitonov – who stepped in as caretaker coach when Aleksandr Grigoryan resigned following the first leg – was flabbergasted by the size of the attendance.

Martina Voss, Duisburg coach
I knew before the game that it would be more difficult tonight, I expected a tight game. Zvezda showed tonight that they deserved to be in the final, they have a lot of talented individuals. We aimed to win the game tonight but didn't succeed because our opponents did everything to keep us out. I am really pleased and happy about the first trophy I have won with my team but the most important thing for me tonight was the atmosphere, the whole city showed tonight that they take us seriously.

Stanislav Kharitonov, Zvezda caretaker coach
I think both teams put on good performances tonight. Compared to the first leg my team played tremendously, I am pleased with their performance. I'm a bit sorry about the goals we conceded in the first leg, but tonight I am really proud of my players. To be honest I'm really interested to know how Duisburg were able to get 28,000 fans into the stadium, that would be impossible in Russia. It was just a great atmosphere and we didn't expect it.
