The UEFA Women's Champions League round of 32 concludes on Wednesday with most of the favourites defending big leads in home second legs.
Favourites ahead
Holders FCR 2001 Duisburg, German rivals 1. FFC Potsdam and FC Bayern München, and former winners Umeå IK and Arsenal LFC all picked up comfortable away victories last Wednesday and are primed to move into November's round of 16. However, former semi-finalists Olympique Lyonnais and Brøndby IF both have more to do as they defend one-goal leads at home to Serbian champions ŽFK Mašinac Niš and Dutch counterparts AZ Alkmaar respectively.
Round of 16
Once the fixtures are completed the round of 16 ties will already be known, including a potential contest between Duisburg and ambitious Swedish club Linköpings FC. The eventual aim is a place in the new one-off final played on Thursday 20 May in Madrid, two nights before the men's UEFA Champions League decider in the same city. Rayo Vallecano de Madrid need to overturn a 3-1 deficit in their trip to Russia's WFC Rossiyanka to keep alive their hopes of competing for the trophy on home soil.
