Impressive bow for Brøndby

Group 1 round-up: Brøndby IF cruised through to the quarter-finals on their tournament debut.

Denmark's Brøndby IF cruised through to the UEFA Women's Cup quarter-finals on their tournament debut with Group 1 victories against ZFK Mašinac-Classic Niš, Kilmarnock LFC and KR Reykjavík.

Opening victory
Group hosts Brøndby opened with a 2-0 victory against Scottish side Kilmarnock. Stine Kjaer Jensen put Brøndby ahead in the 39th minute, and two minutes later Pernille Munch doubled the lead and secured the win.

Comeback win
In the other match, Yugoslavian champions Niš came from behind to beat Iceland's KR 3-1. Hrefna Johannesdottir put KR into a 12th-minute lead, which they held until 20 minutes into the second half when Milena Mitic equalised. The scores were still level until the 85th minute, when Marina Mladenovic edged Niš ahead, and in added time Vanja made it three goals from defenders for her side with the clincher.

Lead opened
Brøndby opened up a two-point lead after the second set of games as they beat KR 1-0 and the other sides drew 1-1. The Danish side's goal was scored by Catherine Sørensen in the 36th minute, while Kilmarnock led their game with a 50th-minute Belinda Seers goal only for Tamara Jovanovic to equalise 16 minutes later and end the Scottish side's hopes.

KR consolation
Kilmarnock them found themselves ending the group in fourth as KR won their final game 5-1 to finish third, Hólmfridur Magnusdottir's hat-trick in a 20-minute period either side of half-time the highlight.

Brøndby overwhelm rivals
Niš needed to win the group decider to progress, but found themselves overwhelmed 4-0. The scores were level at half-time, but four minutes into the second period, Munch opened the scoring and Kjaer Jensen, Bettina Falk and substitute Ditte Larsen followed suit to sent Brøndby through.
