Fortuna Hjørring goalscorer Nadia Nadim and coach Brian Sørensen feel their side are slight favourites to progress to the last 16 of the UEFA Women's Champions League following a 2-1 victory over Glasgow City LFC.

Nadim gave the visitors a comfortable lead with a first-half double but missed out on a hat-trick when her penalty was saved just before the break. Meanwhile, opposing coach Eddie Wolecki Black felt his team's slow start cost them, while Jane Ross, who scored a consolation goal, believes they created enough chances in the second half to keep their qualification hopes alive for next week’s return leg in Denmark.

It was a good result for us. We won 2-1 and one goal away is like a double. We pressed them high and took some chances, so it was a good start for us. We are favourites now. We had the better result over here. It's a new game on our home pitch and we can play a bit more open, but this is a good result for us going into the second leg.

We're definitely happy with that result. We know that Glasgow are a great team and on their pitch we know they play fast football, so 2-1 is a good result for us. The penalty was a good save by the goalkeeper. We have an advantage in the next match at home. We will play a bit more but we have a small advantage.

There's no doubt the first half cost us. It was a slow start and to go a goal down after a few minutes, it was a hard blow for us. Over the last few weeks we've been playing local domestic games and it probably told when we came into this match. The pace of the game, the intensity of the game, the aggressiveness and physicality of the game caught us [out] for the first 15 minutes. By the time we learned about that we were two nil down.

Obviously we're a little bit disappointed to come away 2-1 down but there's some positives we can take from the game. We created a lot of chances and had lots of possession in the second half and obviously it's a tie over two legs. We were a little bit slow to start. We struggled with the physicality of the game, but the second half was much better – we were more composed and created more chances. It's always great to get on the scoresheet and on another night we might have scored another few goals.
