Olympique Lyonnais continued their march to an unprecedented third straight UEFA Women's Champions League title after a comprehensive win against FC Malmö.

Camille Abily told UEFA.com before the match that Malmö "are the toughest side we could have faced" and the Swedish visitors boasted a high-class international lineup. But they are all but out of the tie, with the victory capped by two goals from Lyon's Sweden forward Lotta Schelin.

Malmö began promisingly, but Lyon were swiftly up to speed. A powerful long-range Louisa Necib effort was only just over on 13 minutes and soon after Camille Abily slid a wonderful pass through for Élodie Thomis to dispatch.

Anja Mittag, hoping to become only the second player to 40 UEFA women's club goals, nearly drew the visitors level but was off target. Schelin was more clinical, beating two opponents and doubling the lead.

The pace of the match did not let up and on 26 minutes Manon Melis, making her return for Malmö, was left free after a defensive slip but Sarah Bouhaddi made what was to prove a pivotal save. Lyon now took full control and Sonia Bompastor's powerful attempt was close.

Bouhaddi stopped a Mittag free-kick early in the second half as Malmö looked to impose themselves physically. But they did not threaten after that and just past the hour Lyon coach Patrice Lair opted to replace Thomis with Eugénie Le Sommer. The consequences were immediate as the substitute found her way blocked in the area only for Schelin to pounce and make it three.

Schelin then turned provider as her fine cross from the left fell to Abily, whose bizarre shot caught out visiting goalkeeper Thóra Helgadóttir. There was nearly a hat-trick for Schelin, but she was replaced by Laëtitia Tonazzi and Necib added the fifth in the last minute from outside the box.
