Sundhage and Rohlin promise Sweden party

Sweden coach Pia Sundhage and defender Charlotte Rohlin promise a "great party" at UEFA Women's EURO 2013 in July and are hopeful home support can push them to victory.

Sweden may not have won a senior continental title since taking the very first European women's crown in 1984, but they aim to put that right on home soil next summer.

Hosting UEFA Women's EURO 2013 between 10 and 28 July, Sweden are considered strong challengers to end Germany's monopoly of the title that stretches back to 1995. The recent appointment as coach of one of the veterans of that 1984 win, Pia Sundhage, fresh from leading the United States to Olympic gold, has increased expectation even more.

Sundhage told UEFA.com: "It's been absolutely wonderful. It's been a warm welcome, and the fact that they're hosting the European Championship is something that's special. I really can feel it, that it's something you are really looking forward to, and hopefully it'll be a great event."

Hoping to be in Sundhage's squad is Linköpings FC defender Charlotte Rohlin, who is also that host city's ambassador for the tournament, with matches to be played in a new stadium for the club. She promises a "great party" come July and adds: "Our strength is the collective, but we have also got very technical players who are able to win games."
