Twelve teams will compete in seven Swedish cities from 10 to 28 July as Germany aim for a sixth straight European title. With the likes of France, England and hosts Sweden in strong contention, interest is high.
"With 99 days left until kick-off, it is great to be able to report there is such great interest in UEFA Women's EURO 2013," said tournament director Göran Havik. "In earlier Women's EUROs there has not been such a large number of tickets sold several months before the tournament."
Historically, the largest numbers of tickets are sold in the host nation and though that is true again, it is also remarkable that tickets have been purchased by people in Malta, Switzerland, Austria and the United States, none of which countries will be represented in the finals. It shows the profile of the tournament is spreading internationally, and that there is a high awareness of women's football across Europe.
"It should be mentioned that in women's football there is not the same tradition of travelling supporters as in men's," Havik added. "Although we know the majority of tickets will be sold domestically, it would be fantastic if UEFA Women's EURO 2013 in Sweden could win ground for women's football in this area."
