France draw again as Kyle strikes for Canada

A 94th-minute goal from Kaylyn Kyle earned Canada a 1-1 draw in France, forcing Les Bleues to settle for their seventh tie in as many games despite Élodie Thomis's opener.

Canada's Kaylyn Kyle cancelled out Élodie Thomis's opener for France with a late strike in Nice, condeming the UEFA Women's EURO 2013 finalists to their seventh successive draw.

Thomis put Bruno Bini's side ahead on the cusp of half-time, but a 94th-minute riposte from Kyle means France's wait for a victory goes on – they have not won since defeating Scotland 5-0 in their final EURO qualifier on 19 September.

On a sodden pitch, a far cry from the conditions when Canada edged France 1-0 in the bronze-medal match at London 2012, Les Bleues enjoyed the majority of possession before the break. However, it was only with the last kick of the half that they took the lead, Thomis firing into the top corner of Erin McLeod's goal from the edge of the penalty area.

Shorn of right-back Corine Franco, who is also set to miss Olympique Lyonnais's UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final first leg next week against FCF Juvisy-Essonne, the hosts continued to ask questions of their opponents, testing McLeod on several occasions from long distance. Kyle, though, had the last word, running clear deep into added time and beating Sarah Bouhaddi.

"It's a pity, a shame," said defender Wendie Renard, who left the field late on with a minor knee injury. "It's another draw, in windy conditions. We're disappointed."

France begin their EURO campaign against Russia on 12 July before facing Spain and England in Group C.
