Kenneth Heiner-Møller will step down as Denmark coach after UEFA Women's EURO 2013 in July.

Heiner-Møller, 42, has been in charge since 2006 and will move to take the new role of CEO of development of national coaches and sport directors within Team Danmark, the organisation which supports and finances elite sport in the country. He has previously led Denmark at the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup and UEFA Women's EURO 2009.

"I have been part of an extremely interesting development period for Danish women's football, and working with the women's national team has been very motivating, and still is," he said. "I am really looking forward to trying to achieve a result at the finals this summer, and my ambitions have not become any smaller by the fact I have made this choice about my career."

John Helt, the Danish Football Association (DBU) head of elite football, added: "We have a highly competent coach in Kenneth. His further career in Team Danmark is a natural way to continue the development and talent work he has been known for in the DBU, so the choice is understandable, for Kenneth as well as from Team Danmark.

“Knowing this in February gives us some months to search the market for a new coach for the women's national team. The person in question is going to start in August. We are going to make an announcement soon."

Denmark will begin their finals campaign in the championship's opening match against hosts Sweden in Gothenburg on 10 July (for which 10,000 tickets have been sold in a fortnight) before further Group A games against Italy and Finland. They next compete in the Algarve Cup from 6 to 13 March, with group fixtures against Germany, Norway and Japan.
