Germany will go back to their roots when they tackle Switzerland in their next UEFA EURO 2009™ qualifier on 22 August in Koblenz.

Special day
The Swiss were also the opponents, and the Stadion Oberwerth the venue, when Germany played their first-ever women's international on 10 November 1982, a 5-1 home victory in front of a crowd of 5,000. The German Football Association plans to mark a quarter of a century of female football by making the Group 4 fixture as special a day as possible, DFB president Theo Zwanziger having already announced he will be participating in the celebration.

Neid memories
The qualifier will evoke fond memories for Germany coach Silvia Neid, who came on as an 18-year-old substitute in 1982 and capped her debut with two goals. Both Neid and the German women's side have gone on to achieve greatness in the game, and in 2009 will be looking to win their fifth successive UEFA European Women's Championship.
