Lithuania showed promise for the future as they won a friendly tournament on home soil against neighbours Latvia and Estonia as well as the Faroe Islands.
In one of a series of events for teams who missed out on the main UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying competition, the hosts prevailed, beating the Faroe Islands 3-0 and Latvia 4-0 before drawing 2-2 with Estonia to win the group.
Coach Rimantas Viktoravičius told uefa.com: "It was a very good exercise for the girls to play this tournament. I think we are developing step by step and I have seen some promising performances, especially from one of my youngest players, 18-year-old Viktorija Budrytė who top-scored with four goals."
Faroe Islands coach Aivur Hansen, who led his charges to second place as they defeating Estonia 2-1 and Latvia 3-0, said: "We are happy to return home with two wins. I am proud of my team, not just because of the victories but also because at certain points we showed style on the pitch." Estonia finished third courtesy of their opening 3-2 win against Latvia.
