Azerbaijan sign off unbeaten

A mini-tournament for nations who were eliminated in the UEFA WOMEN’S EURO 2009™ preliminary round has ended with Azerbaijan boasting a 100 per cent record.

A four-team tournament for nations who were eliminated at the preliminary round stage of UEFA WOMEN’S EURO 2009™ has ended with Azerbaijan boasting a 100 per cent record.

Three wins
The tournament hosts finished their programme with a 2-1 victory against F.Y.R. Macedonia on Saturday, thanks to goals from Olga Garivova and Nora Abdullayeva. Azerbaijan had previously defeated Georgia 3-0 and Lithuania 2-1 in the Azeri capital, Baku. F.Y.R. Macedonia finished second with two wins from their three matches, while Lithuania collected their only points by overcoming Gerorgia, who finished bottom of the table after three defeats.
