Germany's 6-2 UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ final win against England gave them their fifth straight continental title and their players are basking in their latest achievement. Birgit Prinz, delighted to get off the mark in the tournament with two goals in the showpiece, scored in her fourth final and has been part of all five European successes, the same as Inka Grings. uefa.com rounds up the reaction from them and younger talents Babett Peter – in her first major championship – and Simone Laudehr, restored to the starting lineup for the final.

Inka Grings, Carlsberg Player of the Match
It couldn't be better for me and the whole team. It was an incredible game and a dream came true tonight after all the personal setbacks over the last few years. We put on our best performance in the tournament tonight and we played with a lot of confidence like real world champions. I am really satisfied that Birgit Prinz scored two goals. I know how difficult it is for a striker if she doesn't score.

Birgit Prinz, captain
It was an exciting and spectacular game with a lot of goals. We knew beforehand that England would be tough opponents and they always scored tonight at the worst moments, but I think this was part of the game. Of course, I am pleased with my goals, though it would have been important for me personally to have scored earlier in the tournament.

Babett Peter, defender
I am really happy that I won the European Championship for the first time. It's a reward for the hard work. We had to be focused over 90 minutes today, as England always hit back. I belong to the young generation and the 2011 World Cup [in Germany] is the next target now.

Simone Laudehr, midfielder
All of us gave everything today and we deserved to win. After we made it 4-2, we knew we shouldn't concede a third goal and we had to score again ourselves. We played very cleverly on the counterattack and the fifth goal decided the game. Personally, I really had to fight to get back into the team, that's why I was a starter today.

Dr Theo Zwanziger, German Football Association president
I think this title will help us to promote the Women's World Cup in 2011. People could see today that this team are also capable of winning the World Cup. Our ambitions are high and the team sent out a strong message tonight. I am especially pleased for Ariane Hingst [injured for the semi-final and final], and she will give everything to participate in 2011.
