Slovenia boosted their hopes of reaching the UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying play-offs with a win in Serbia.
Mateja Zver struck on 59 minutes when she turned in Ksenja Povh's cross and in the last four minutes she scored twice more for a hat-trick to avenge a 5-0 home defeat by Serbia at the start of qualifying. The result lifts Slovenia into third in Group 3, three points ahead of Greece and Serbia.
It now seems that Slovenia's two games with Greece, the first in Dravograd on 28 May, will decide third place, with four of the six teams finishing in that position across the groups reaching the play-offs. Slovenia's other remaining game is with Iceland, who they surprised last August, while Serbia now have a tough trip to leaders France on Thursday.
