Ukraine kept up their perfect UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying round record – and booked at least a play-off place – thanks to a slender Group 5 win in Scotland.
Early winner
With four wins out of four at kick-off, including at home to Scotlandin May last year, Ukraine were hoping to continue their fine campaign and Darina Apanaschenko's ninth-minute goal ensured they did just that as their opponents were allowed few opportunities despite having much of the possession. Denmark defeated Slovakia 6-1 tonight to keep up their own 100 per cent record from six games, and Ukraine welcome the leaders to Chernigov on 22 June for the first of their two meetings.
Play-off bid
Scotland remain third and will clinch that place by overcoming Slovakia in their last game here on 28 September. However a win could be important as only the four teams in that position across the six groups with the best record against the rest of the top quartet in their pool will make October's play-offs.
