Decisive win
The pair were level on points going into the last of their first qualifying round Group 8 fixtures in Minsk having beaten Israel and Belarus. Switzerland only needed a point to top the pool but two goals in three second-half minutes by Cinzia Jörg and Lia Wälti gave them a 2-0 win and leaves Scotland hoping to end of one of the six runners-up in the ten groups with the best record against the teams finishing first and third, and they are well-placed while their record is good news for England but bad for Finland.

Opening victories
Scotland opened with a 5-0 win against Israel, aided by first-half goals from Rebecca Zoltie, Sarah Evans and Lauren McMurchie before Emma Mitchell found the target twice after the break. Switzerland went one better against Belarus; Cora Canetta was the only scorer before the interval but Jörg and Mariah Lentejas struck within ten minutes of the restart and two goals from substitute Nadine Baker were followed by Sophie Herzog making it 6-0.

Belarus third
A 3-0 win against Israel kept up Switzerland's run two days later with Herzog taking two minutes to open the scoring and Lentejas coming off the bench to strike on 67 and 80 minutes. An 18th-minute Eilish McSorley goal gave Scotland victory against Belarus but Ann-Helen Grahm‘s side were to slip up against Switzerland while Belarus held Israel 0-0 to finish third.
