Germany face Sweden, Poland, Northern Ireland

Holders Germany will face Sweden, Poland and Northern Ireland after the draw for the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship second qualifying round was made in Nyon.

Holders Germany will have to negotiate a group hosted by Sweden and containing Poland and Northern Ireland if they are to defend their UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship crown in Turkey next summer after the second qualifying round draw was made in Nyon.

Germany and their predecessors as champions, France and England, all enter the tournament at this stage, joining the 21 sides that progressed from the first qualifying round. Iceland will be among France's opponents in Group 3 in the Netherlands, while England will have to get the better of Austria, Finland and Wales on home soil as they bid to return to the finals after missing out last season, with all sections held from 31 March to 5 April.

Norway blocked their path to Italy, Jarl Torske's young charges advancing to the final before running out of steam, suffering a record 8-1 defeat by Germany in the showpiece. They perhaps hoped they had seen the last of Ramona Petzelberger, captain of last season's winning Germany squad, but after receiving the Fair Play trophy on behalf of her team from UEFA President Michel Platini she helped make the draw, pitting Norway with Czech Republic, Belgium and hosts Portugal in Group 1.

The six groups contain a team from each of four seeding pots formed according to the coefficient ranking list, though no sides could play a nation they met in the first qualifying round. The hosts will be appointed for the mini-tournaments in due course.

All six group winners and the runners-up with the best record against the teams first and third in their section will join hosts Turkey in the finals from 2 to 14 July.
