The 2012 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship in Antalya, Turkey, ended with a new name on the trophy – having begun without the most successful side in the tournament's history, four-time winners Germany. Fittingly, the team that knocked the holders out in qualifying went on to claim the title, with Sweden overcoming Spain in a tense final courtesy of Malin Diaz's extra-time clincher.

Triumphant coach Calle Barrling spoke to UEFA.com about the key ingredients in his side's campaign, saying: "I think we kept our minds fresh tactically. We were very brave, even when they [Spain] tried to take control of the game and push us hard. We had to defend very well and when we went forward we kept the ball."
