Article body
The 2005 runners-up France were paired with 1999 winners Sweden in the pick of the first-round groups for the 2006/07 UEFA European Women's U19 Championship.
Fair Play
UEFA Women's Committee chairwoman Karen Espelund conducted the draw in tandem with France captain Sabrina Delannoy, who was in the Norwegian capital to collect the Fair Play award from this summer's tournament in Hungary. Les Bleuettes reached the final only to be pipped on penalties by the Russians.
Hosts Iceland
Forty-five member associations will take part in the competition, of which only Iceland - the hosts - will not compete in the first phase. A co-efficient ranking list was established for the draw, which saw the teams drawn into eleven groups of four. Twenty-four nations will progress to the second qualifying round.
