Holders Germany will defend their UEFA Women's European Under-19 Championship title in July's finals in France after qualifying with a 2-0 victory against Hungary last night. Spain, Scotland, Norway and best runners-up Italy also booked their places in the 19 May draw alongside Sweden, England and the hosts.

Third win
Goals in the opening 12 minutes from Lisa Schwab and Eve Chandraratne set Maren Meinert's Germany on their way, as they rounded off second qualifying round Group 3 with maximum points. In the 7-19 July finals they will be striving to lift the title for the third time in a row. Russia finished a face-saving second in the section after Nelli Korovkina struck a second-half hat-trick to see off home side Romania 4-0.

Spain through
Goals in the last 20 minutes from Marta Torrejón and Patricia Martínez ensured Spain's progression as the Republic of Ireland pushed them hard in Group 6. Lynn Marie Grant had earlier cancelled out Cristina Martínez's opener to raise Irish hopes but Spain held their nerve. The Netherlands' 7-1 triumph against Serbia earned them second place as the losers ended their campaign with a record of three defeats in three games, with one scored and 21 conceded.

Scotland through
Second in Group 4 at the start of play, Scotland recorded a 2-1 victory against Denmark to leapfrog their opponents and qualify for the finals. Scotland fell behind after only six minutes but hit back on 19 through Jane Ross, and confirmed victory thanks to Christie Murray's strike six minutes from time. Switzerland overcame Belarus 4-1 in the other match.

Italy qualify
In Group 5, Italy faced Norway with both sides level at the top of the pool with six points each from two matches. Norway emerged 2-1 winners, largely thanks to first-half goals from Gunnhild Herregården and Ida Elise, but Italy also qualified as they had the best record of all six runners-up against the teams first and third in their group.

Perfect England
Sweden, safely through before the last round of Group 1 matches kicked-off, were held 1-1 by bottom side Finland, while the Czech Republic defeated Austria 1-0 to finish second. Already-qualified England also enjoyed the same margin of victory when they overcame Iceland to finish with a 100 per cent record in Group 2. Belgium confirmed the runners-up spot by defeating Poland by the same score.
