Norway miss out on bronze

Norway 1-4 United States Norway missed out on third place through Ragnhild Gulbrandsen scored a consolation goal to take her tournament tally to six.
Norway missed out on third place at the FIFA Women's World Cup after a 4-1 defeat by the United States in Shanghai.

Gulbrandsen consolation
Having lost at the semi-final stage to eventual champions Germany, Norway were looking for consolation but Abby Wambach scored either side of the break and Lori Chalupny and Heather O'Reilly extended the lead before Ragnhild Gulbrandsen pulled one with a looping header to take her tournament tally to six, one short of Brazil's Marta. Norway, who won the FIFA Fair Play award, resume their UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying on 27 October at home to Russia, with both teams on a perfect record in Group 6.
