Iceland made a winning start to their FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying campaign with a Dóra María Lárusdóttir-inspired 3-0 home win at the expense of Belarus.
Lárusdóttir was the star of the show for Iceland, striking either side of half-time. She opened the scoring after 31 minutes, before Margrét Lár Viðarsdóttir doubled the home side's tally ten minutes after the break. Lárusdóttir completed the scoring with her second of the game in the 58th minute.
Iceland will be hoping to take this performance into their next qualifying match when they travel to Sweden next Sunday. Belarus play in front of their home fans for the first time this campaign when they face Czech Republic on Saturday. The group winners will qualify for the 2007 World Cup finals in China.
