Denmark lineup delights coach

Denmark coach Kenneth Heiner-Møller said he had created a perfect blend in his squad for next month's FIFA Women's World Cup in China.

Versatile
Among the 21 names are 19-year-old Brøndby IF midfielder Line Røddik and experienced duo Anne Dot Eggers and Merete Pedersen, who both made their debuts back in 1993. "This is a perfect squad, containing the best players at the moment, and where no one has been nominated for their efforts in the past," said Heiner-Møller. "At the same time have we tried to anticipate a lot of ifs and buts - such as injury or the need for tactical changes. Many of the players can cover several positions, and that makes us less vulnerable to injury."

Excitement
Brøndby's Cathrine Paaske Sørensen will have an important role in the midfield, and she said: "I have never played at a World Cup before, so that only gives me extra motivation. Playing the opening match against China in front of 60,000 spectators is simply going to be crazy, and I am really looking forward especially to that match!" After meeting the hosts in Wuhan on 12 September, Denmark take on New Zealand and Brazil in Group D. Before then there is a friendly with Sweden in Farum on 30 August.
