Portugal primed for show of strength

Portugal face a tough test against Brazil, Ivory Coast and Korea DPR in Group G, but winger Simão and coach Carlos Queiroz tell UEFA.com the 2006 semi-finalists have reason for optimism.

Portugal needed a play-off to reach the FIFA World Cup, but after struggling in qualifying they will be determined to come good when it matters most. A tough draw has pitted them against Brazil, Ivory Coast and Korea DPR in Group G, but coach Carlos Queiroz and winger Simão tell UEFA.com the 2006 semi-finalists have plenty to be confident about. "We are going to South Africa to compete to get the best results we can in this prestigious challenge, the most prestigious challenge in world football," Queiroz said.
