Germany thrilled to realise their dream

UEFA.com rounds up the reaction from the likes of Joachim Löw, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm and Manuel Neuer after Germany's final victory.

Germany 1-0 Argentina:  Details

Joachim Löw, coach
We expected Argentinia to fight really hard. It was a difficult game and the players went beyond their limits. They gave it their all to win this cup at last.

We have been together for 55 days now, but actually it all began with Jürgen Klinsmann ten years ago. We did everything to experience this special day. The team deserved it, we evolved a great team spirit during recent weeks. We worked together as an unit and everyone put all his energy in this team.

This is a victory for eternity – we are the first European team to celebrate in South America, in the land of football. We have developed a great team in recent years, we got better and better. It simply was time now. Even the future belongs to this team, we have lots of young players. But now we will celebrate without any limits!

Bastian Schweinsteiger
We are really enjoying this moment and I would like to thank Germany for the great support – we noticed that here. There are celebrations everywhere and we will party hard as well. You must fight really hard in these games, even if you have cramp. You probably play this game only once in your lifetime. The lads on the bench were very enthusiastic, which pushed us further. Everyone should celebrate tonight.

Philipp Lahm
It's incredible how hard we worked for 120 minutes today. We showed the great fight that is synonymous with this team. The best individual players don't matter, what is important is who is the best team. We got better and better over the games and did it our way. Now we are world champions.

It was my dream since I was a child, to get this cup. Later on it became my goal and now we have it – that's incredible. But we could not expect to lead by five after 30 minutes in a semi-final or final. We stayed calm and patient, because we knew that we were the fitter and stronger team in the end.

Manuel Neuer
We had a great team spirit, even the players who didn't get their minutes contributed to that. Everyone wanted to reach this goal to the bottom of their hearts. We managed to do that, it's just incredible.

We had a lot of setbacks as well and we have to think of the players who aren't with us now. They are world champions as well, the whole country is world champion. I try to help my team as well as I can. But it's not about me, it's about the team. We did a great job, but not only the players – also the staff. We will wake up with a smile for a long time now.

Jérôme Boateng
It's simply a feeling of great joy, you cannot describe it. We are very happy that we can bring home the cup now. Everyone was at the limit today, as we knew that it would be a different game compared to Brazil. Argentinia defended very well, but in the end they got tired and we were the fitter team. Now we will celebrate.

Miroslav Klose
It is simply overwhelming, that was the icing on the cake today. That is world class. It has been a dream forever, to stand up there and celebrate. Everyone who has been involved in this team deserve it. It is very important that you stand together. It was a difficult game, but we knew that we were the better team, when we stayed calm.
