Middlesbrough FC manager Steve McClaren will remain part of England's coaching staff for the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
"I'm delighted to confirm Steve's role with the England team," said head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson. The 43-year-old McClaren added: "Working with the England team is a tremendous honour, so I am delighted to be continuing."
World Cup role
McClaren first worked under Eriksson during the qualifiers for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the finals in Korea/Japan before stepping down to concentrate on matters at Middlesbrough.
However, he returned to the set-up after his replacement with England, Brian Kidd, was diagnosed with cancer. Kidd will continue to work for the national team as a scout, while McClaren's involvement has been approved by his club chairman Steve Gibson.
