The Lithuanian Football Federation has given José Couceiro the green light to divide his time between their national team and Turkish club Gaziantepspor.
Priority
"We came to an agreement," said LFF president Liutauras Varanavicius. "But we have one condition – the national side must be the priority." Couceiro was appointed as Lithuania coach in August, replacing Algimantas Liubinskas before the start of FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. After six games Lithuania lie third in Group 7 and with the Portuguese coach keen to combine the role with club management, the LFF has decided to make allowances. "I'm delighted we have reached an agreement," said the 46-year-old. "I would like to continue my work with Lithuania: it's a big honour. Now I'm going to Turkey to finalise a contract with Gaziantepspor." Gaziantepspor are ninth in the Turkish Süper Lig table with seven matches remaining.
