Ibrahimović stays calm to keep Sweden alive

Sweden 2-1 Austria
Trailing at the interval, Erik Hamrén's side clinched second place in Group C thanks to goals from Martin Olsson and Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Sweden wrapped up second spot in FIFA World Cup qualifying Group C courtesy of a comeback win at home to ten-man Austria.

The visitors were in the ascendancy in Solna when Martin Harnik struck after 29 minutes. However, Martin Olsson restored parity in the second half and Zlatan Ibrahimović completed the turnaround four minutes from time for Erik Hamrén's team.

Sweden started on the front foot with Alexander Kacaniklic twice forcing goalkeeper Robert Almer into action before their momentum was halted. David Alaba rolled a free-kick into the path of Marko Arnautovic, whose enticing centre across goal was converted by Harnik. The hosts' response was spirited as Johan Elmander's 30-metre free-kick thumped against a post.

Better was to come in the second period, though, as Ibrahimović crossed for Olsson who made no mistake with a diving header. Ibrahimović almost turned goalscorer moments later, firing narrowly over having been rebuffed initially by Almer at point-blank range. Not to be denied, the Sweden captain took receipt of substitute Kim Källström's raking pass and finished unerringly. Arnautovic was then sent off to add to Austria's woes.
