Hungary got their 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign off to a perfect start by putting five goals without reply past Andorra in qualifying Group D.

Two to the good at half-time courtesy of Roland Juhász and a Zoltán Gera penalty, Sándor Egervári's side added to their lot after the break through Ádám Szalai, Tamás Priskin and Vladimir Koman. Hungary host the Netherlands, who defeated them 4-0 and 5-3 en route to UEFA EURO 2012, on Tuesday, when Andorra play Romania.

Defender Juhász started the scoring with 12 minutes on the clock, the towering defender powering a firm header past José Gómes from a Balázs Dzsudzsák corner. Although they had initially struggled to find their rhythm, the visitors doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark, captain Gera converting from the spot after Marc García fouled Vilmos Vanczák.

Szalai made it three nine minutes into the second half as Hungary began to take control. Latching on to a teasing back-post cross from Vanczák following another marauding run down the wing by the right-back, Szalai stooped to head in from a tight angle.

Things went from bad to worse for Andorra when Marc Vales was sent off on 67 minutes, with Priskin immediately grabbing a fourth from Zoltán Lipták's raking pass. Priskin then turned provider, his cross being scuffed by David Maneiro into the path of Koman, who rounded off the scoring with eight minutes remaining.
