• Captained Spain to victory at the 2007 European U19 Championship in Austria, scoring once in five matches.
• The right-back was the only player to feature in all ten of Spain's qualifiers, play-offs included − also made two appearances at the 2009 U21 finals in Sweden, where Spain exited at the group stage.
• Joined Marseille last summer from Osasuna, having played 99 league matches for the Pamplona club − ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in November, an injury from which he only returned last month.
