Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker

An exciting, adventurous and speedy right-back who made a strong impression for his country at the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals in Denmark, Kyle Walker must be a strong contender to start for the senior England side in Poland and Ukraine after an excellent 2011/12 season with Tottenham Hotspur FC.

• A graduate of the Sheffield United FC academy, Walker broke into his home-town side late in the 2008/09 season following a loan spell at Northampton Town FC and experienced Championship play-off final disappointment as the Blades lost 1-0 to Burnley FC at Wembley.

• Joined Tottenham that summer along with club-mate and fellow full-back Kyle Naughton but was loaned back to Sheffield United for the first half of the forthcoming season.

• A starter in England's 2-0 defeat by hosts Ukraine in the final of the 2009 U19 European Championship, he was called into the senior squad for the friendly against Denmark in February 2011, a month after joining Aston Villa FC on loan.

• His first goal for Tottenham, and only the third of his senior career, earned the north London club a 2-1 victory against local rivals Arsenal FC in a Premier League game on 2 October 2011.

• Given his senior England debut as a late substitute during a November 2011 friendly against Spain at Wembley, he made his first start three days later versus Sweden in what proved to be Fabio Capello's final match in charge of the national team.
