Having lost his place as first-choice goalkeeper for FC Shakhtar Donetsk and the Ukrainian national team in 2011, Andriy Pyatov has profited at club level from Olexandr Rybka's ban and looks set to return as his country's No1 at UEFA EURO 2012 following injuries to Olexandr Shovkovskiy and Andriy Dykan.
• Born in Kirovohrad, Pyatov started his career with FC Vorskla Poltava, becoming the club's first-choice keeper in the spring of 2006.
• Won a silver medal for Ukraine at the 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals in Portugal then earned selection for the FIFA World Cup in Germany despite being uncapped at senior level.
• Signed for Shakhtar in December 2006 but remained on loan to Vorskla for the remainder of that season before taking over as No1 for the Pitmen in 2007/08.
• An ever-present during Shakhtar's 2008/09 UEFA Cup triumph, he also played from start to finish in the UEFA Champions League campaigns of 2007/08 and 2008/09 as well as the 2010/11 group stage, in which he kept four clean sheets.
• On the bench for Shakhtar for much of the 2011/12 season, he replaced Rybka in the starting XI after the winter break and kept goal in nine of the remaining ten league fixtures and three domestic cup ties as Mircea Lucescu's team completed the double.
