Who should be my Champions League Fantasy Football captain for Matchday 5?

The captaincy credentials of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Harry Kane come under the microscope.

With the business end of the UEFA Champions League group stage upon us, UEFA.com highlight some standout Matchday 5 captaincy options for managers on #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.

Who will be your Matchday 5 Fantasy captain?

Highlights: Man. City 2-1 Dortmund

TUESDAY 25 OCTOBER

Erling Haaland (€11.1m) vs Dortmund (A)

It's a case of high risk but high reward for would-be Haaland captainers. The Norwegian was an unused substitute against Copenhagen last time out, which will surely cause many #UCLfantasy managers to hesitate as to whether he should be given the armband on Matchday 5. A goalless draw with the Danish side sealed Manchester City's place in the knockout rounds but they have not yet guaranteed top spot in Group G, so the Matchday 5 trip to Borussia Dortmund is the opportunity to do just that. The relentless Haaland has already scored against his former club this season, and will relish the trip to a stadium where he scored many goals in the past. Should Pep Guardiola turn to Haaland on Matchday 5, a captaincy haul should be expected.

Kylian Mbappé (€11.2m) vs Maccabi Haifa (H)

From one superstar striker to another, Mbappé perhaps represents the safer armband choice on Matchday 5, especially given the circumstances around Paris's section. With the Ligue 1 outfit level on eight points with Benfica with two games to go, their final position in Group H could well come down to goal difference, or even goals scored. Mbappé – with four goals in four appearances in this season's competition – can certainly help with that. The Frenchman has accumulated more #UCLfantasy points than any other forward and scored against next opponents Maccabi Haifa on Matchday 2.

Highlights: Napoli 4-2 Ajax

WEDNESDAY 26 OCTOBER

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€5.6m) vs Rangers (H)

Napoli have caught the eye this season, the Italian side still unbeaten in all competitions at the time of writing. Having collected maximum points in their UEFA Champions League group, they have scored more goals than any other team in the group stage and in Kvaratskhelia they possess one of the brightest young stars in European football. The Georgian has registered a goal and assist in each of Napoli's last two Group A encounters, and at €5.6m represents incredible Fantasy value. With first place not yet confirmed, Luciano Spalletti could opt for a strong line-up against Rangers, who have conceded the joint most goals (16) in this season's UEFA Champions League.

Harry Kane (€10.5m) vs Sporting CP (H)

Tottenham's first three games in a hugely competitive Group D did not yield any attacking returns for Kane, but that all changed on Matchday 4 when the Premier League side edged out Frankfurt 3-2. Kane's goal and assist yielded nine Fantasy points, and he has already reached double figures for goals and assists in all competitions this season. Tottenham can book their spot in the round of 16 on Matchday 5 should they defeat Sporting CP, who have lost their last two UEFA Champions League games, so Kane has plenty of motivation to bring in the points for his owners.
