The two UEFA EURO 2012 mascots continued their road show this weekend in Lviv – the mascots' first Ukrainian stop after beginning their journey in the Polish host city of Poznan.

On Saturday the as-yet-unnamed twins were welcomed by Ukrainian tournament director Markiyan Lubkivskyi, Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi and regional governor Vasyl Gorbal, as well as Ian Borden, McDonald's Ukraine general director, before being paraded along the streets of the western city.

They were also warmly received by more than 1,000 young players and fans at the Lviv School Football Cup awards ceremony, which followed a competition held on International Students' Day last week. Later the mascots visited Lviv's arena for the finals and helped to anoint former FC Karpaty Lviv player Stepan Yurchyshyn as a new Friend of UEFA EURO 2012 in Ukraine.

"We are happy that Lviv was the first Ukrainian stop for the EURO mascot road show as this city is one of the most beautiful in the country," said Ian Borden on behalf of the sponsors. "It is a great honour and responsibility for us to be part of this event. I have no doubt that the EURO mascot tour will encourage a lot of young Ukrainians to go in for football and sport in general."

Lviv was the second of eight stops on the road show which ends in Warsaw on 4 December, when the mascots' names will be announced.
