The French Football Federation has confirmed it wants Raymond Domenech to lead Les Bleus into UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying after his success at the FIFA World Cup.

Paris meeting
The 54-year-old is on holiday but is expected to agree to carry on the work he began when appointed almost two years ago. FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes revealed the news following a meeting of the association's federal council in Paris this morning. "In view of the excellent campaign by the French team at the FIFA World Cup, the federal council has proposed to Raymond Domenech an extension for his mission as national-team coach."

One defeat
After 28 games in charge, Domenech has recorded 15 wins, 12 draws and one loss, a 2-1 friendly reverse at the hands of Slovakia in March. One of the dozen draws was the 1-1 stalemate after 120 minutes against Italy in Sunday's World Cup final, with the Azzurri triumphing on penalties. His next fixture with Les Bleus will be the 16 August friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo before the UEFA EURO 2008™ campaign begins on 2 September in Georgia. Four days later, France welcome Italy to the Stade de France for their second qualifier.
