A below-strength Romania side continued their UEFA Futsal EURO 2014 preparations with a 3-1 win and 4-3 loss in Moldova.

Nine regulars were absent, coincidentally in the final tournament venue Antwerp, at the 15th Panathlon World Interuniversity Club Games, leaving coach Nelu Stancea with only Robert Florin Matei, Cristian Matei, Vlad Iancu and Andrei Grigoras from his regular squad for the games in Chisinau. Still, he was able to promote a number of the Under-21 squad for a taste of senior internationals.

Romania had the better of both games, the first won by two Florin Robert Matei goals after deutant Emanuel Moldoveanu had struck. The following day Moldova improved but only won when Florin Robert Matei missed a double penalty two second from the end; Cristian Matei had scored with two goals by Laszlo Szőcs, returning after two years out of the squad.

Stancea said: "Taking into consideration the conditions in which we played these matches, I am very satisfied. And even more happy, because we had two players, Emanuel Moldoveanu, who was called for the first time, and Szőcs, with whom I worked until two years ago. These were very useful matches, which offered me the possibility to see in action at this level different players."
