  • Saturday: Ukraine v Spain (18.30CET) – will decide Group B first place

Dymtro Bondar scored two goals, one a moment of individual brilliance, as Ukraine booked a UEFA Futsal EURO 2016 quarter-final place along with Spain and ended Hungary's hopes

Ukraine made a brilliant start when Dmytro Sorokin stole the ball in the Hungary box and slotted in, and in the seventh minute Dymtro Bondar made it two with a fantastic chest down, turn and chipped shot. Just as against Spain, Zoltán Dróth almost immediately pulled Hungary back to 2-1 to the delight of their indefatigable fans. However, Bondar did superbly to set up Denys Ovsyannikov and although Hungary did get back to 3-2 and 4-3, with an assist and another goal by Dróth, in the end Ukraine pulled away.

The key
Dmytro Bondar's footwork and poise made the difference at crucial moments, both to make it 2-0 and 4-2 as well as set up the goal that took the score to 3-1. He even outshone Zoltán Dróth, the new Kairat Almaty signing departing after four goals and one assist as Hungary, just as in 2005 and 2010, leave without a point.

Ukraine's run goals on
This is the eighth UEFA Futsal EURO in a row where Ukraine have made the last eight and they lead Spain on goals scored. Both those teams know they will meet either Portgual or hosts Serbia in Monday's quarter-finals, they only question being who plays who.

Salute to the Hungary fans
The Hungary fans travelled in numbers and sang through their losses to Spain and Ukraine. At the end the Hungary players stood arm in arm to receive one final rendition.

Reaction:
Oleksandr Kosenko, Ukraine coach
It was a great game especially as it was our first match here. We expected a positive result and we got it. We hope we will keep raising our standard as the tournament foes on, this isn’t our limit. We didn't look to defend, we wanted to attack, but we had to deal with the threat of Dróth. The important thing is we won.

Sito Rivera, Hungary coach
We lost to the better team. We made mistakes today but partly because we were forced to. We just weren't able to get up to the level of a very good team, they managed the game very well and they deserved to win. It's a huge success to be so important to Hungarian people because this sport is still fairly amateur there, we are very proud. I was moved by the around 1,000 people that came, just like the people that supported us in the play-offs against Romania. Only with their help can futsal be a success in Hungary.
