The former Lithuania captain has been in the position since his election to the vacant president’s post in 2017.

Danilevičius, who turned 42 in July, won 72 caps for Lithuania, and his 19 goals make him the country’s record scorer. His nomadic footballing career as a striker included spells with clubs in Belgium, England, Italy, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia and Switzerland.

“It was a short, but very challenging time,” said Danilevičius of his first term as president. “It was important that we made investments in youth academies and coaches, and introduced new methods.”

“I want to continue the work which has been started. We have a lot of objectives, such as the improvement of indoor infrastructures and nurturing women’s football. My goal for this term is to have specific results, and we have a strategy for that.”

Lithuania is set to stage a major football event next year when it hosts the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021.
