Montreux takes centre stage for UEFA Congress and Executive Committee meeting

The European football spotlight will turn on Montreux this week as UEFA brings two major gatherings to the western Swiss lake resort.

On Monday, the UEFA Executive Committee convened for its latest meeting. This is followed on Tuesday by the 45th Ordinary UEFA Congress, the annual meeting of Europe’s football parliament.

Monday 19 April: Executive Committee - post-2024 club competitions format and EURO update

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin hosted the Executive Committee’s meeting, with the post-2024 format of the UEFA club competitions and an update on UEFA EURO 2020 among the agenda items:

The other main items on the agenda were:

• UEFA Women’s Champions League - new regulations and financial distribution for the 2021-25 cycle

• UEFA men’s club competitions - financial distribution for the 2021-24 cycle

• Appointment of hosts

- Youth championship final tournaments 2023, 2024 and 2025

- Under-19 Futsal EURO 2022

Approval of regulations

- 2021-24 UEFA Champions League

- 2021-24 UEFA Europa League

- 2021-24 UEFA Youth League

- 2021-24 UEFA Super Cup

- 2021/22 UEFA Futsal Champions League

- 2021/22 UEFA European Under-19 Futsal Championship

Tuesday 20 April: 45th UEFA Congress - elections on the agenda

The UEFA Congress is Europe’s equivalent of a football parliament. It brings together presidents and general secretaries representing each of UEFA’s 55 member associations to make decisions that help shape European football.

The Congress will open at 10:00 CET and close at approximately 14:30 CET.

The main items on the agenda include:

- elections of UEFA Executive Committee members and European members of the FIFA Council;

- ratification of two representatives of the European Club Association (ECA) and one representative of European Leagues (EL) as members of the UEFA Executive Committee;

- approval of the 2019/20 financial report and the budget for 2021/22;

- amendments to the UEFA Statutes;

- ratification of new members of the UEFA Organs for the Administration of Justice.

There will be no press conference after the Congress.
