Meet Philippe Margraff, the man responsible for filling the Hospitality Production Manager role, as we glean some key insights into the position, and find out what he is looking for in potential candidates.

Philippe, can you tell us a little about your role at UEFA?

I joined UEFA 15 years ago to set up the internal marketing operations to internally manage the commercial rights for UEFA EURO 2004 in Portugal. Since then, I have had different responsibilities. Currently, I head Revenue Operations, which includes commercial operations, ticketing and hospitality for UEFA's top competitions.

What makes this role stand out as far as 'ordinary' hospitality jobs are concerned?

The successful candidate will be working on world-class hospitality events, delivering world-class experiences for the guests. The scope includes our top-tier events: the Champions League and Europa League finals and Super Cup on a yearly basis, as well as EURO 2020.

Of course, EURO 2020 in itself represents an exceptional and exciting challenge – the first time it has ever been spread across 13 countries, so there are all sorts of new considerations – different languages, cultures and expectations, and in four different time zones. The Hospitality Production Manager will develop, manage and deliver – with a team of experts and dedicated professionals – every part of the on-site experience from catering, decoration and infrastructure to entertainment, event staff, sound and lights.

The scale of the event makes it very unique – with EURO 2020, we're talking about over 150,000 guests, during which you will have full responsibility for the budget and organisation. I really think it's a very special opportunity.

Can you tell us more about the special qualities you're looking for in your applicants?

Well, first of all, I would say we're looking for someone with a really deep knowledge of event hospitality production management – someone with a proven record of delivering hospitality on a large scale at world-class events. But it also goes beyond experience – the right person needs to really live and breathe hospitality. They should love hosting and entertaining, and be able to show us how their passion and pride has resulted in consistently excellent experiences for their guests and clients over a number of years.
