Single yellow cards to be annulled after group stage

Yellow cards that have not resulted in a suspension will expire at the end of the group stage and will not be carried forward to the semi-finals of this summer's Under-21 tournament.

Single yellow cards awarded in the group stage of this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship will not carry over to the semi-finals, following a decision of the UEFA Emergency Panel.

The panel, meeting in London on 28 May, decided to impose an amnesty on any yellow cards that have not resulted in a suspension on completion of the group phase in Denmark. Article 21.4 of the Regulations of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship has been amended to read: "In the final round, single yellow cards that have not resulted in a suspension expire on completion of the group phase and are not carried forward to the semi-finals."

The same rule had already been adopted by the UEFA Executive Committee for the 2011-13 cycle of the UEFA European U21 Championship as well as for other UEFA competitions for representative national teams. Single yellow cards were annulled after the group stage of the men's U19 and U17 Championships and the Women's U19 Championship last summer, and also in this month's edition of the men's U17 finals.
