Bulgaria round-up: Derby joy for Levski

PFC Levski Sofia triumphed in the city derby, beating PFC Slavia Sofia 3-1.

PFC Levski Sofia won 3-1 against PFC Slavia Sofia in today's Sofia derby.

Trenchev dismissed
Dalibor Dragich opened the scoring for Levski in the 16th minute with a header before Levski defender Ivo Trenchev was sent off for a second yellow card in the 40th minute. Slavia drew level through Yuliyan Gunchev's second goal in a week against Levski five minutes after the interval.

Ten men rally
The equilibrium lasted just six minutes though as Georgi Ivanov took advantage of a defensive mix-up to restore Levski's lead. Martin Kushev buried the hopes of his former team, however, by scoring Levski's third in the 75th minute.

Controversial win
PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv were 1-0 winners at PFC CSKA Sofia in a stormy game in the top six play-offs. Metodi Stoinev scored the only goal of the match after 43 minutes in a match that saw the CSKA president Vasil Bozhkov try and withdraw his players in protest at the standard of refereeing.

Second red card
The game had started well for the hosts, with Manchev lobbing the goalkeeper in the 12th minute after good work from Colombian international Hamilton Ricard, only to see his shot rebound off the crossbar. CSKA dominated the second half despite being a man down but were further rocked by the controversial dismissal of a second defender, Senegalese international Ibrahima Gueye joining Galin Ivanov in the dressing room, after he was adjudged to have committed a professional foul.

Lokomotiv win
PFC Lokomotiv Sofia were the only home team in the bottom eight to register a win, beating PFC Belasitsa thanks to Rosen Kaptiev's 54th-minute goal from Rumen Hristov's cross. PFC Beroe upset PFC Spartak Pleven 2-1 with goals from Vanyo Shiskov and Krum Bibishkov. Pleven's Todor Kolev was sent off in the second half while Beroe's Gospodinov was also dismissed in the last minute.

Chern More triumph
In the Varna derby, PFC Cherno More scored a 2-1 win over PFC Spartak Varna with goals from Vladimir Gerasimov and Ivo Mihailov. Spartak scored through Plamen Krumov and had a chance to equalise but Iliya Iliev missed a 60th-minute penalty. In today's other game, PFC Marek won 4-2 at PFC Chernomorets Burgas with goals from Lyuben Lubenov (2), Ivailo Kirilov and Velizar Dimitrov. Iliyan Banev and Ivan Martinov replied for the losing side.
