Georgos Frantzis has resigned as chairman of Cypriot side AEL Limassol FC after increasing pressure on him to step down.
"After long discussions, the board of the club has decided to accept my resignation", Frantzis said at a press conference. He went on to add that the club has already begun looking for a replacement.
AEL got off to a shaky start this season but the arrival of Yiannis Mantzourakis midway through the winter season has helped the Limassol side move up to fifth place in the UEFA Cup. AEL are also currently top of their group in the Cyprus Cup group stages.
